the GazettE（ガゼット）は、日本のヴィジュアル系バンド[3]。所属事務所は株式会社HERESY。
概要

2002年に結成、2005年にキングレコードからメジャー・デビュー。結成当初からセルフプロデュースを行っており、作曲・編曲は『大日本異端芸者の皆様』、『the GazettE』といった表記になっている。作詞はRUKIが担当（一部他メンバーとの共作あり）しており、『流鬼.』ないし『RUKI』とクレジットされている。

CD制作の際は選曲会を開き、各自が持ち寄ったデモの中から楽曲を選出している。7thアルバム『BEAUTIFUL DEFORMITY』では、メンバー5人それぞれが作った楽曲を収録するなど、全メンバーが楽曲制作を行うが、RUKI、麗、葵が原曲を作成したものが多い。歌詞はもとより、作品のコンセプトなどもRUKIが主体となり決定される。

バンド名の由来は、「デモテープ（カセット）のような古き良き物を今に伝えるという意味を込めていると同時に、ガギグゲゴ調の名前にしたかった」とRUKIは語っている。
