『ON THE STREET CORNER』（オン・ザ・ストリート・コーナー）は1980年12月5日 (1980-12-05)に発売された山下達郎通算1作目のア・カペラアルバム。
解説

山下達郎が好むドゥーワップの曲を取り上げたカバー・アルバム。収録されている曲は当初、ライブで披露するためにレコーディングされたもので次第にレパートリーが増えたことから、アルバムとしてまとめられたものである。そのため、ほとんどオリジナルに近いアレンジの曲がある一方、原曲とはアレンジが大きくかけ離れた曲もある。

後に山下は本作について「『RIDE ON TIME』[注釈 1]が1位になったら、こういうことをやろうと、僕はずっと待っていた。売れたら好きなことが出来る、という典型のような作品。とにかくドゥーワップやりたくてやりたくて…。このアルバムは、昔からのファンと<ライド・オン・タイム>[注釈 2]からのファンのギャップを埋めるうえでの、ある種の確認というか、押さえにはなったと思う」[1]としている。

1986年 (1986)、シリーズ第2作目となる『ON THE STREET CORNER 2』のリリースにあわせ、『ON THE STREET CORNER 1』[注釈 3]として再発。ただし、1980年 (1980)限定盤の本作と区別する必要があることから、“'86年版 ('86 VERSION)”と併記された。さらに2000年 (2000)、シリーズ第3作目の『ON THE STREET CORNER 3』[注釈 4]リリースに際しタイトルを『ON THE STREET CORNER 1』と改め、再発された。

なお、アナログ盤およびカセットテープのクレジットでは、A面2曲目が「ALONE」となっており、以下3曲目が「CLOSE YOUR EYES」、4曲目が「SPANISH HARLEM」となっているが、実際には2曲目が「CLOSE YOUR EYES」で以下、3曲目が「SPANISH HARLEM」、4曲目が「ALONE」である。後に『ON THE STREET CORNER 1 ('86 VERSION)』[注釈 3]からは、曲順が修正されている。1980年のAIRレーベルのこのアルバムは、1stプレスと2ndプレスが在り、2ndプレスは、ジャケットやレーベルの曲順になっている。1stプレスは、RAL-6501-Aと表示されており、2ndプレスは、RAL-6501-A2と表示されている。B面は共にRAL-6501-Bとなっている。
