May J. （メイ・ジェイ、1988年6月20日 - ）は、日本の女性歌手。東京都で生まれて神奈川県横浜市で育つ[2]。 2006年にキューンレコードでメジャー・デビューする。2009年以降のレーベルはrhythm zone。神奈川県在住[3]。芸名は本名の「芽生」に、ミドルネームで美しいや才能溢れる意のペルシア語「ジャミーレ (Jamileh)」、から「J」を採った[4][5][6]。俳優の尚玄は配偶者である。　
人物・エピソード・交友関係

父親は関西出身の日本人で、ペルシャ、ロシア、スペイン、イギリス、トルコの血筋を持つ[7][8]母親はイラン出身で日本国籍を取得した[9]。母方の祖母はロシア人でアゼルバイジャンとトルコのハーフ、母方の祖父はイラン、スペイン、イギリスの血筋を持つ。多言語生活の家庭に育ち、英会話は日本語同等で、スペイン語は得手でなく、ペルシア語は会話内容がある程度把握できる[9]。

語学、音楽、コンピュータなど各種学校を経営する両親の影響で3歳からバレエ、ピアノ、8歳から声楽をそれぞれ学ぶほかに作詞や作曲を嗜み、父親の影響でイラン音楽を聴いた[9]。

アメリカンスクール・イン・ジャパン ハイスクールで、青山テルマは1年先輩で同じジャズボーカルクラスに在籍し、宇多田ヒカルは5年先輩である。森村学園で、宮澤エマは初等部の同級生で[10]、幼稚園在籍時に一青窈が高等部に在籍した。

カラオケ番組に多く出演し、テレビ朝日『関ジャニの仕分け∞』のカラオケ得点対決で連勝して歌姫と呼ばれる。
