K-POP（ケーポップ、朝: ???）は、韓国のポピュラー音楽の通称。ITZY、K-POPのガールズグループ
来歴

1990年代より、日本国内のポピュラー音楽にJ-POPという語が使われ始めたことに影響を受け、1990年代後半頃から、日本国内における比較語として韓国のポピュラー音楽を指して日本のメディアによってK-POPという語が使われるようになった[1]。

韓国では自国の大衆音楽のことは専ら「カヨ（??、歌謡）」と呼び、日本で人気のあるすべての音楽をJ-POPと言うのとは異なり、韓国はK-POPという用語を「ダンスグループ」だけに限定して使用している。韓国では日本と同じくK-POPグループをアイドルと呼ぶ場合もあるが、小劇場公演を重点とする日本とは異なり、メンバーが音楽制作に参加する場合も多いため、アーティストという用語を使用することもある[2]。よって、Rock、バラード、R&B歌手や韓国の演歌ともいえるトロットを歌う歌手は基本的にK-POPアーティストには含まれない。

K-POPアイドルの源流は1991年結成のソテジワアイドゥルとされ、韓国音楽界で初めてヒップホップとR&Bを融合させたダンスポップを導入し成功させた。その後、H.O.T.、Sechs Kies、godなどダンスミュージック・ラップを取り入れた男性アイドルグループが人気を博した。区分としてソテジワアイドゥルやH.O.T.を基点に第1世代（1990年代）、第2世代（2000年代）、第3世代（2010年代）と呼ばれ、現在2020年以後デビューするアイドルは第4世代アイドルとされる[3]。女性アイドルグループは1993年にデビューしたグループ「S.O.S（Sensational Oriental Sound）」が最初とされている。

東方神起、BIGBANG、Wonder Girls、少女時代、KARAなどが第2世代アイドルで代表的なグループとされる。練習生制度が普遍化し、積極的な海外進出により、現在のK-POPの礎を築いた。

2012年7月にYGエンターテインメントがPSYの『江南スタイル』のPVをYouTubeで公開した。同曲は欧米諸国を中心に世界的大ヒットを記録し、PSYは一躍、韓国を代表する世界的スーパースターになった。『江南スタイル』の大ヒット以降、YouTubeはK-POPの欧米進出にとって重要なプラットフォームとなった。
人気と影響
台湾

台湾ではK-POPの人気が高く、若者にも愛されている。 韓国のガールズグループは台湾の首都台北で頻繁にコンサートを開催しており、K-POPは台湾で最も重要なポップミュージックである。
アメリカ、ヨーロッパ

K-POPの輸出が推進され、PSYの「江南スタイル」が大きな成果を挙げた[4]。「江南スタイル」は当時流行していたEDMと呼ばれる先進的な音楽性を取り入れつつ、乗馬ダンスとも称される独特のダンスをPVで全面に押し出し、社会的なブームとなった。アジア発の楽曲がアメリカのBillboard Hot 100で2位以内にランクインしたのは坂本九の「上を向いて歩こう」以来、史上2度目であった。また少女時代、KARA、東方神起などはアジアにおけるスターのアイコン的な存在として欧米などの西側諸国で営業活動を推進していた。2021年, BTSがビルボードではアジア初の10週連続HOT100チャート1位、アジアで初めて米国3大音楽授賞式の一つであるAmerican Music Awardで大賞格である「Artist of the year」を受賞した。BLACKPINKは2023年基準で全世界のYouTube購読者および視聴回数1位で、2022年から始まったワールドツアーコンサートを通じてスパイス・ガールズ記録を破ってガールズグループワールドツアー史上最大収益を上げた。[5]
東南アジア

1990年ごろから韓国の歌謡曲が進出をはじめていたが、2000年代に入るとタイ王国やシンガポールでK-POPが広く知られるようになった[6][7]。経済大国である米国、韓国、台湾の次に東南アジアがK-POPファン層が厚く、東南アジア出身のメンバーが含まれたグループは当然東南アジアで人気を獲得するのに多くの役に立つ。 タイの場合、2PMのニックン、BLACKPINKのリサが代表的だ。フィリピンの場合、韓国のShowbtEntertainmentが現代Pinoypop(P-POP)の男子アイドルの始まりであるSB19をデビューさせ、フィリピンで最も人気のある男子アイドルとして位置づけられた[8]。
