このページでは出典表記形式1・出典表記形式2・和書用出典表記形式のテンプレートで表示されるエラーメッセージの意味と解決策を説明します。エラーメッセージが表示されているページはCategory:テンプレート呼び出しエラーのあるページ/CS1に収集されます。
なお、脚注用のrefタグの使用にまつわるエラーメッセージはこのページでは扱いません。 When editors preview an article, MediaWiki displays a preview message box under the Preview header. When 出典表記形式1 and 出典表記形式2 templates have error or maintenance messages, Module:Citation/CS1 summarizes those messages in the preview message box. |access-date=を指定する場合、|url=も指定してください。
|access-date=引数（または|accessdate=引数）は|url=で指定されたインターネット出典が閲覧され、記事に追加された日付です。|url=を指定していないのに|access-date=を指定した場合、このエラーメッセージが表示されます。インターネット出典ではない場合、閲覧日付（|access-date=）は不要であり、その場合は除去してください。たとえば、書籍出典の場合は|edition=や|isbn=で特定すべきであり、閲覧日付は指定する意味がありません。
このエラーを解消するには、|url=を指定するか、|access-date=を除去してください。具体的には下記のように対処します。
出典が追加された時点で|url=が指定されていない場合：|access-date=を除去してください。
|url=のリンク先に著作権侵害の疑いがあるとして除去された場合（WP:COPYLINKも参照）：|access-date=を除去してください。
|url=のリンク切れにより除去された場合：|url=を元に戻し、|url-status=を指定してください。また、アーカイブ版がある場合は|archive-url=と|archive-date=も指定してください（Help:リンク切れ

|archive-date=と|archive-url=の日付が異なります。
Archive.org や Archive.today のURLには14桁のタイムスタンプが付いています。タイムスタンプの日付と|archive-date=に指定された日付が異なると、このエラーが表示されます。
このエラーを解消するには、|archive-url=と|archive-date=が同じアーカイブを参照しているようにしてください。アーカイブされたページを表示し、下部のFILE ARCHIVED ONで始まる行を確認して、正しい|archive-date=を取得してください。
