F-117とは、ロッキード社（現ロッキード・マーティン社）が開発した、アメリカ合衆国のステルス攻撃機。英語ではエフ・ワン・セブンティーンと呼ばれ、愛称はナイトホーク（Nighthawk）。配備されるF-117 世界初の実用的なステルス機として1981年に初飛行を行った、アメリカ空軍の攻撃機である。レーダーから発見されにくくするため、平面で構成された独特の多面体の機体形状をしている。これにより空気力学的に不安定な形状となっているが、操縦にフライ・バイ・ワイヤを採用し、姿勢制御にコンピュータを介在させることで安定性を確保した。1982年には部隊配備が始まっていたが、アメリカ国防総省が1988年11月に不鮮明な写真を公開するまで、詳細はおろか存在自体が極秘扱いとされていた。 機体は黒一色に塗装され、主に夜間作戦に使用されることから、アメリカヨタカを意味する「ナイトホーク（Nighthawk）」の愛称が与えられた[注釈 1]。 1983年に実戦配備がスタートし、1990年までに全59機の配備が完了した。攻撃機として主に重要施設への空爆を任務としており、湾岸戦争をはじめいくつかの実戦で使用されたが、撃墜による損失はコソボ紛争における1機のみとされている。
