スキー記念日／スキーの日（ 日本）1911年1月12日にオーストリア陸軍のレルヒ少佐が、新潟県高田（現在の上越市）の陸軍高田歩兵第58連隊の青年将校に、日本で初めてスキーの指導を行ったことから。スポーツ用品メーカー・ミズノの直営店・エスポートミズノが1994年に制定し、その後全日本スキー連盟も関係諸団体との協議を行って2003年に制定[10]。
桜島の日（ 日本）1914年（大正3年）に鹿児島県の桜島で大正大噴火が始まったことにちなむ。鹿児島市では毎年この日に噴火を想定した防災訓練が行われる。
