注釈^ 任命といっても当時は試験などをするわけではなく、これはと見込んだ者に辞令を出してバッジを交付し「連邦保安官助手に任命する。憲法と法令に従い法を執行すると、右手を挙げて誓え！」と命じるだけだった。
