^ 二人のプリンス（Prince：公爵又は皇太子）アルバートは混同されることがあり、「アルバート公の時代」のアルバート公がどちらを指すか明確ではない。「プリンス・アルバート・コート」等の名前は夫であるアルバート公から付けられたものだが、服飾の分野に於ける功績は息子のアルバート・エドワード皇太子の方が大きいとされている。紳士服業界の重鎮でエリザベス2世女王付きのデザイナーでもあったハーディ・エイミス卿は著書でアルバート・エドワード皇太子の服飾分野に於ける功績を讃える一方、王配のアルバート公に対してはその功績を認めていない。
^ プロイセン軍のフロックコートは、プロイセン軍を象徴する色である紺青色（プルシアンブルー）であり、19世紀初頭から男性用の服は地味な色彩のものが好まれていたため、イギリスにも広まった。その後更に濃い色調になり、濃紺や黒のものが正装となった。18世紀中頃にはフリードリヒ2世がフロックコートの原型とも言えるプルシアンブルーのコートを着用していることが確認されている。
^ 正装と戦闘服装の軍服が別のものになったのは19世紀末である。19世紀中頃までは装具を変えることにより、同じ軍服を正装或いは戦闘服として着用していた。但し、将校が平常勤務時等に着用する略装用の服はそれ以前から使用されていた。
