1 北京政府、または国民政府・中華民国政府が中央政府機構を1年以上設置した実績のある都市。なお、1925年 - 1928年は北京政府と国民政府の並立期間。

2 国共内戦（大陳島撤退作戦）にともない中華民国政府の実効支配地域が変更された最後の年。

3 行政改革によって行政機関としての機能は2018年までに消滅。ただし、中華民国憲法と中華民国憲法増修條文の上では廃止されていない。

4 この行の記載は、行政院新聞局が2005年に刊行した「中華民國九十四年年鑑」に基づく。

5 「中華民國九十四年年鑑」が刊行された年。これ以降、中華民国政府は大陸地区の範囲・行政区分に関する公告を発表していない。

6 全域が台湾地区に属する。

7 金馬地区が台湾地区に、それ以外の地区が大陸地区に属する。8 モンゴルの独立を承認したため、1946年に廃止。その後モンゴルの独立承認を取り消したため、1953年に復活（詳細は台蒙関係を参照）。
