注釈^ 戸籍のうえでは7月25日生まれになっているが、実際は1月15日生まれ。
^ 横手中学でのあだ名は、か細かったことから「夜蚊(ヨカ)」。3?5年生時に石坂から国語と作文を教わったむのたけじは、石坂が醸し出す雰囲気について「教室で人を解放させるようなあたたかなムードを持ち、空気のように包まれる感じであった」と回想している。例えば、前から成績の悪い順に着席していた当時の教室で、授業中教師と目を合わせないようにうつむいていた前列の者たちが、石坂の授業においては「あててくれ」といわんばかりに顔を上げるようになり、教室の風通しがよくなったと感じたとのこと。また、英語の試験官をしていた石坂が、答のわからない生徒たちに聞かせるかのように窓の外に向かって解答をつぶやくのを数度目撃したそうである。（読売新聞秋田版、2008年9月10日、『あの日 X年前 ? 82年前、1926年』）。
