真昼の決闘

^ フジテレビは開局後に夕方の時間帯に大相撲中継をしていたが、他の民放各局（TBS、NTV、NET系列)も大相撲を中継していて視聴率が取れず、中継を止めて、代わりに外国映画を放送するために設けた番組がこの『テレビ名画座』であった。この番組は、毎週月曜日から金曜日まで同じ映画を毎日午後3時から放送して、見逃しても次の日に再度観られるようになっていた。その後に月曜日から水曜日と木曜日から金曜日の2本立てにしたが、放映された映画は延べ600本に達する。
