注釈^ この決闘によって、代議士のサー・チョムリー・デリング（英語版）が死亡した[2]。
^ 弾丸は約253m/s（830ft/s）の銃口速度で発射された。これは.52口径の弾丸としては現在の.45ACP弾に相当する威力であり、致死を含む相当の重傷を負わせることが可能であった[8]。ただし、平均速度が385m/s（1260ft/s）や305-610m/s（1001-2001ft/s）も容易に達成でき、これは量販の低品質フリントロック式ピストルで一般的な威力であった[9]。
^ アレクサンドル・プーシキンは手慣れた決闘者であり、1837年2月8日（O.S.）のジョルジュ・ダンテスとの決闘までに29回もの経験があった。ダンテスとの決闘も腹部に傷を負うも反撃して、彼に傷を負わせている。この傷が元でプーシキンが亡くなるのは決闘の2日後であった[10]。
^ 1825年にパリで起きたアイルランド人同士による決闘の記録によれば、一方はイギリス製のウォグドン＆バートンの決闘用ピストルを、もう片方はライフリングされた銃身とヘアトリガーを備えた、より洗練されたフランス製のピストルを持参していた。この格差にもかかわらず、両者共に自身のピストルを用いるつもりであったが、介添人が仲裁に入り、どちらかの決闘用ピストルを用いることが決まった。そしてコイントスでフランス製の方が用いられることになった。ところが、イギリス製ピストルの持ち主は、フランス製のヘアトリガーに慣れておらず、準備が整う前に誤発射してしまった。この結果、フランス製ピストルの持ち主が十分に狙いを定めるまでの1分間、その場に静止し続けなければならなかった。なお、彼は弾を外した[16]。
