中国では、1912年の中華民国建国および清朝滅亡まで時憲暦が使われていた。中華民国は建国と同時にグレゴリオ暦（太陽暦）を採用し、さらに清朝が滅亡すると中国全土でも同暦が正式な暦となったため、時憲暦は現在まで公式な暦として中国最後の太陰太陽暦となっている。

その後さまざまな変転があったが、21世紀現在でも春節の日取りは旧暦（= 時憲暦）をもとに決定することになっているため、公的にも一部残存する形となっている。
