明（みん）は、中国の王朝である。1368年から1644年まで存在し、明朝あるいは大明とも号した。朱元璋が元を北へ逐って建国し、李自成軍による滅亡の後には、清が李自成政権（順）と明の再建を目指す南明政権を制圧して中国大陸を支配した。

モンゴル帝国（Yeke Mongγol Ulus）から分裂した後、カアン位を継承しモンゴル平原と中国大陸を支配した元朝（Dai-on Yeke Mongγol Ulus）は、14世紀に入ると複数の皇后が生んだ男子に漢人が文官として後ろ盾となり、帝位の相続争いが起こり統治能力が低下した。
