^ チャメリア人の議論の試みにもかかわらず、2004年10月中旬のアルバニア訪問において、ギリシャ大統領コンスタンディノス・ステファノプロスはニュース番組に出演し、チャメリア人問題はギリシャには存在せず、チャメリア人やその他のギリシャの少数民族が訴える財産補償要求はすでに終わった話であり、過ぎ去った歴史に属するとした。「チャメリア人問題を解決する必要性があるか否か私には分からないが、私の考えではこれは解決する必要はない」と同大統領はこのように述べ、「双方の主張はあるとしても、これらに立ち戻ってはならない。チャメリア人問題など存在しないのだ」とした。ステファノプロスの述べた「双方」とは、現在アルバニア南部に属する「北イピロス」（アルバニアに属する北部イピロス地方のギリシャ人地区）に対するギリシャ側からの主張のことを指している。—[5]
^ チャメリア人の活動はギリシャを防御姿勢に入れるに十分であった。ギリシャは軍事的、外交的に機先を制するべく、汎アルバニア主義のギリシャ北西部への伸張の脅威を警告した。セルビアおよびマケドニア共和国のメディアの報告では、新しい汎アルバニア主義の組織がその活動対象をチャメリアと呼ばれるギリシャ北西部へも広げ、彼らの主張する「全アルバニア」の統合を目指すとしている。国際監視団は、コソボの政治家がチャメリア問題に言及しはじめる可能性を警戒した。—[12]
