※『尊卑分脈』では、三浦氏・鎌倉氏・長尾氏・大庭氏・梶原氏・土肥氏など相模平氏の祖を良文ではなく、良茂の子・良正、あるいは良兼の子・公雅としている。

注釈^ この付近は、玉浦（現・九十九里平野）や香取海が陸地化した箇所であり、当時は湖沼群が残され新田開発に適した多くの未墾地があった。
^ 良文の場合、上総介に任じられた高望とともに坂東に下向して勢力を拡大したわけでは無いが、父を同じくするとされ、他の諸流がその後衰退しあるいは活動拠点を坂東以外に移したこともあって、坂東平氏を称する氏族のほとんどは良文流の坂東八平氏である。ただし、実際には一定の信憑性を評価されている『将門記』には良文の名はなく、坂東八平氏の初期系図には混乱が見られることから、平高望とは無縁の氏族が後世になって仮冒したものと考えられている[3][4]。
