総会では、「総会閉会の翌日（4月19日）をもって、国際連盟は、本決議に定める事務の清算のみを目的とする場合を除き、その存在を停止する」という決議がなされ[243]、国際連盟は4月20日に解散した。国際司法裁判所や国際労働機関は国連に引き継がれた。

各国9人で構成された清算委員会は、その後15か月間、連盟の資産や機能が国連や専門機関に移管されるのを監督し、1947年7月31日に解散した[243]。

国際連盟のアーカイブは国際連合ジュネーブ事務局に移管され、現在はユネスコの世界記憶遺産に登録されている[244]。

国際連盟アーカイブ (The League of Nations archives) は、国際連盟の記録や文書を集めたものである。1919年の国際連盟発足から、1946年の国際連盟解散までの約1,500万ページの内容が含まれている。このアーカイブは、国際連合ジュネーブ事務局に置かれている[246]。

2017年、国連図書館・公文書館・ジュネーブは、国際連盟アーカイブの保存、デジタル化、オンラインアクセスの提供を目的とした Total Digital Access to the League of Nations Archives Project (LONTAD) を開始した。2022年の完成を予定している[247]。
