^ al-Intiq?’, p. 44, which mentions that Ja‘far ibn Sulaym?n (the governor of Medina) lashed the Imam in the year AH 146 (763 CE) and stretched out his arms until his hands became dislocated and so he was not able to place his hands one over the other in prayer. Imam M?lik wrote al-Muwa??ah two years after this happened.
