後にミラマックスは、2016年3月2日には中東・カタールのbeINメディア・グループに買収された[8][9][10]。さらに米メディア大手バイアコムCBS（現：パラマウント・グローバル）は2019年12月20日、ミラマックスの株式49%を3億7500万ドル（約410億円）で取得することで合意したと発表した。ミラマックスが制作し著作権を保有する約700本の映画を同社のネットワークで配信できるようになる[11][12]。2020年4月3日に売却は完了し、beINメディアは引き続き51%の株式を保持する[13]。これにより、本作のミラマックス作品における日本での配給権をウォルト・ディズニー・ジャパンから東和ピクチャーズへ移行されることになった。

注釈^ 当時の「First Lieutenant」、「Second Lieutenant」などは階級ではなく、海尉（Lieutenant）の乗組んだ艦内における序列であった。そして、「First Lieutenant」は筆頭士官であり、現在の副長に相当する。そのため、日本語の字幕では「副長」とされていた。
^ ホーンブロワーシリーズの『砲艦ホットスパー』のホーンブロワーが勅任艦長に昇進する場面では、翻訳家の菊池光氏が「勅任艦長」を「海佐」、「海尉艦長」を「准海佐」と訳しており、軍事専門誌などではこちらを使うケースもみられる[3]。
^ 元は海軍が軍艦を保有していなかった時代の傭船[4]の船長の意味合いであり、軍艦が整備されるようになると、船の運航責任者である特務士官待遇の専門職として軍艦に配属された。航海士（Master's Mate）を経て昇格する他に、民間船の船長や士官から転向する者もいた。一般的には「航海長」と訳されており、本作品の日本語字幕でも「航海長」とされている。ジェームズ・クックのようにマスターから海尉に転向することもあった。

^ 海軍本部規則書の追加規則により、職位3年以下は陸軍中佐と同位、3年を過ぎた艦長は同じく大佐と同位と定められていた。
