^ 教会スラヴ語のロシア式綴り。ロシアでの発音は、「フリストース・ラジュダイェッツァ！」「スラーヴィチェ（・イヴォ）！」（[xr???stos r???daj?t?s?], [?s?av??t?e (j??vo)]）。「Его」は「彼を」の意。

^ 先帝祭は休日から外されたものの、宮中祭祀では変わることなく行われている。1989年（昭和64年）1月7日の昭和天皇崩御に伴い、平成時代の先帝祭にあたる昭和天皇祭が、ユリウス暦を採用する正教会のクリスマスと同日の1月7日となり、2代続けてクリスマスにまつわる日となっている。
^ そもそも日本はクリスマスに限らず、バレンタインデーやハロウィンなども同様に、宗教行事の神聖性を軽視し、おしなべて商業行事として捉える傾向が非常に強い。
^ ただし、領聖・聖体拝領・陪餐（「キリストの体と血」とされるパンとぶどう酒を飲食すること）は、ほとんどの場合洗礼を受けたキリスト教徒（さらに教派によっては自教派の信徒）に限られるので注意。聖公会や多くのプロテスタント教会は、キリスト教徒でさえあれば所属教派を問わず陪餐を認めるところが多い。正教会では、領聖の後に行われる「十字架接吻」と、「アンティドル」と呼ばれるパン切れを食べること（「領聖」は司祭の手元から信徒の口で直接受けるのに対して、「アンティドル」は聖堂内に置かれた皿から自由に取るという点が見分け方）は、信徒でなくても与れる。
^ ただし、2020年初頭から続く新型コロナウイルス感染症蔓延のため、「直接参加は信徒のみ」という措置を取る教会も出てきた。代わりにインターネットでの動画配信が普及しつつある。
^ イタリアは言うまでもなくカトリックの総本山・バチカンを抱える。
^ イタリア語: “Fatto per la notte di Natale”という題辞があり、1690年にバチカン宮殿のローマ教皇御前で、クリスマス・イヴのカンタータにおいて演奏されたと伝わる[112]。
^ ユダヤ教の祭日「ハヌカー」がほぼ同じ時期である。またイスラム教では、イエス（イーサー）は預言者の一人とされているものの、「クルアーンと聖書はどちらも12月25日がイエスの誕生日ではないという証拠を示している」といった理由から、クリスマスを祝わない[119]。
