問題点

アパレル産業が流行に合わせ大量生産した服が大量に廃棄されることから、国連貿易開発会議では世界第2位の環境汚染産業と指摘された[13]。これに合わせ、アパレルメーカーでは補修サービスなどにより環境負荷を抑える試みが模索されている[13]。
国際的な統計

2016年の世界の繊維全体の最終需要量は8800万tで、1990年の約2.3倍となり、一人当たり需要量も約1.6倍に増加した[3]。世界のアパレル市場では2025年までに実質ベースで年平均3.6％の成長が予測されている[3]。
