^ 「ヨーロッパ」に注目してそれを “西” とし、「それ以外のすべて」をひとまとめにして “東” と見なすような分け方。
^ 「アスー」 / 「エレーブ」は一般的に“出る” / “入る” という意味の動詞で、太陽や月、星が東から昇る / 西に沈むということにも使われた。a?u / er?bu は不定詞（動名詞）の形。これらの動詞から派生した名詞「シート」 ??tu / 「エルブ」erbu と “太陽”という意味の「シャムシュ」 ?am?u による「シート・シャムシ」 ??t ?am?i “太陽の出”、“東” / 「エレブ・シャムシ」 ereb ?am?i “太陽の没”、“西” という表現もある。

^ 「エウローペー」の語源については諸説があるが、これが有力。
^ 占領下に置くエルサレムを首都と主張。しかし世界の大多数の国はこれを認めず、テルアビブを首都とみなしている。
