飯能戦争（はんのうせんそう）は、慶応4年5月23日（1868年7月12日）に武蔵国高麗郡飯能村周辺（現・埼玉県飯能市）[注 1]において振武軍を中心とした旧幕府軍と新政府軍との間で行われた戦いである[1]。

新政府に対し恭順の意を示す徳川慶喜の名誉挽回を目的に結成された彰義隊は[5][6][7]、当初一橋家ゆかりの幕臣を中心としていたが、急進派の幕臣らが多数合流したことで方針が名誉挽回から主戦へと傾いた[6]。やがてこの方針を巡る組織内対立が表面化すると[7]、渋沢成一郎[注 2]、尾高惇忠[注 2]らは慶喜の処分決定後に急進派と袂を分けて新たに振武軍を結成[5]。上野戦争の敗残兵を含む[1]400から500名あまりの兵を率い飯能に転陣すると、これを追撃する新政府軍との間で戦闘となった[5]。

同時期、関東地方では慶喜の恭順姿勢に反発する幕臣たちによる脱走、局地戦が相次いでいた[9]。『新編埼玉県史』は、関東地方においては上野戦争やこの戦いを最後に新政府軍に抵抗する動きが一掃され、静観していた各藩も恭順の意思を示したと評している[5]。

慶応4年1月3日から6日にかけて行われた鳥羽・伏見の戦いにおける幕府軍の敗戦後、徳川慶喜が大坂城を脱出し海路を経て江戸へ戻ると[10]、新政府軍への反抗を企図していた幕府陸軍も江戸へと退却した[11]。
