雑技（ざつぎ。雑伎とも）は、世界的な公演芸術である中国のサーカスであり、中国の歴史はもっとも悠久なだけでなく民族的特色も持っている。また、中国において、曲芸や奇術など様々な芸能を雑技という。奈良時代に日本に渡ってきた中国の芸能も雑技と呼ばれる。
中国雑技の起源

中国での雑技芸術はかつて石器時代からその芽が出始めた。例えば現代雑技の舞台でよく見られる手技プログラムである "飛技板"は今まで知られた最初の雑技項目でそれは新石器時代に起源がある。それ以外にも(飛叉)、(拉弓)、(舞流星)、(馴獣)などがあり、皆上古時代にさかのぼることができる。
雑技の現状

1950年、最初の国家雑技団である中国雑技団が設立された。中国雑技団は中華人民共和国の雑技芸術を代表してヨーロッパ各国を巡回して外国観衆の歓迎を受けた。その後に中国の各省市でも雑技団が相次いで設立された。その中で比較的早く設立されて今日に至るまでその名声を揚げている雑技団では上海雑技団、広州雑技団、武漢雑技団、重慶雑技団、 瀋陽雑技団、西安雑技団などがある。現在、中国には県級以上の専門雑技団が100余個があって雑技関係者は 1万名余に至る。

中国は体操競技の世界的大国であり、上海雑技団のアクロバティックな技は有名である。

上海には現在4つの雑技団が存在する。中でも雲峰雑技団は2004年に設立された最も若い劇団であるにもかかわらず、内外から高い評価を得ている。上海随一、中国随一とまで称賛されることもしばしば。その内容は、サーカスや手品ではなく、中国古来から受け継ぐ伝統文化に忠実な中国雑技である。女性の華麗で美しい雑技、男性のパワフルでスピーディーな雑技、どちらも称賛に値する。そもそも雲峰雑技団は、山東省に数多く存在する雑技団より選りすぐりの団員を上海へ終結させ結成した劇団であることから、選抜された団員で構成される、言わばエリート集団である。特に、一台の自転車に12名乗る自転車技、フラフープ、タイタニックライクの音楽で舞台や客席上を駆け巡るロープ技、バイクショーは有名である。

日本では、各地の雑技団の公演や、日本で設立された雑技団など中国雑技を見ることができる。日本において設立された雑技団は中国大黄河雑技団などがあり、中国各地の雑技団から選抜・招聘された団員で構成されている。

1999年より広州市の広州軍戦士雑技団（軍所属の雑技団）でアクロバット・バレエの公演が行なわれており、『白鳥の湖』を基にした魏葆?と?正丹の夫婦による『東方白鳥』が2002年にモンテカルロ国際アクロバット大会で最高賞を受賞し、日本を含む世界各地で巡演している[1]。
