連帯（れんたい、Solidarity?）とは、共通の関心・目的・基準、共感を認識し、グループや階級の心理的な一体感を創り出すことである[1][2]。これは人々を一つに結びつける社会の絆を指している。この語は、社会学やその他の社会科学、哲学や生命倫理学においても広く用いられる[3]。連帯はカトリックの社会教説においても重要な概念であり、したがってキリスト教民主主義的な政治理念の中核となる概念である[4]。
連帯の基礎を成すものとそれが実施される方法は、社会によって異なっている。発展途上の社会では、それが主に親族及び共通の価値観に基づくだろうが、より発展した社会では、連帯感あるいは社会的結束に寄与する様々な理論が蓄積されている。
連帯は、欧州連合基本権憲章の六つの原則の一つでもあり[5]、毎年12月20日は人間の連帯国際デーとして国際的に啓発される。連帯の概念は ⇒生命倫理と人権に関する世界宣言 でも言及されているが、明確に定義されていない[6]。生物工学のそして生体医学的に能力を向上させる研究・生産が増えるにつれて、医療制度の枠において連帯を明確に定義づけることが差し迫って重要になる。
