『誰がために鐘は鳴る』（たがためにかねはなる、For Whom the Bell Tolls）は、アーネスト・ヘミングウェイの長編小説。スペイン内戦を舞台とし、ロバート・ジョーダンとマリアの恋を描く。

題名は17世紀のイギリスの詩人ジョン・ダンの説教「ゆえに人を遣わして問うなかれ、誰がために鐘は鳴るやと、そは汝のために鳴るなれば」の一節を引用している。[1]1939年3月にこの作品を書き始め、翌1940年に発表された。
あらすじ

若いアメリカ人ロバート・ジョーダンは、大学のスペイン語の講師だが、1936年スペイン内戦の勃発で、共和政府軍に反ファシスト軍として参加した。この小説は、彼が命令を受けて、単身敵の背後に潜入し、反乱軍（英語版）の前進の要所に当たる橋梁を爆破するまでの四日間たらずの出来事をたどるものである。彼は任務を背負い、パブロが率いるゲリラ隊に協力を求めた。そこでファシストに両親を殺され、ゲリラ隊にかくまわれていた娘・マリアと知り合い、恋に落ちた。やがて、彼は作戦を進めていくうちに、敵の作戦が変更となり、自分の任務である橋梁の爆破が無意味になることを知った。しかし連絡の不備から作戦は中止されず、彼は無駄になったことを知りながら橋梁を爆破し、瀕死の重傷を負い、仲間を逃がして自分は死に臨んだ。
