法道（ほうどう）は、インドの仙人。鉄の宝鉢を持っていたことから、空鉢（くはつ-）、空鉢仙人（からはちせんにん）とも呼ばれる。
概要

6-7世紀頃、中国・朝鮮半島を経由して、日本へと渡ってきたとされる。播磨国一帯の山岳などに開山・開基として名を遺す、数多くの勅願寺を含む所縁の寺がみられる。

また、日本に渡るときに牛頭天王と共に渡ったとされその牛頭天王は姫路市にある広峰神社に祭られ、その後現在は八坂神社中の座に祭られたとされている。

法道仙人が六甲山は六甲比命神社境内にある雲ヶ岩(紫雲賀岩)で修行中、紫雲に乗って出現した毘沙門天を感得する。

雲ヶ岩、六甲比命大善神、心経岩を奥ノ院とする吉祥院多聞寺（神戸市北区唐櫃）を創建する。関東でも鉢山町や神泉町など地名が法道由来とされる。

神社保存会である六甲比命講によれば六甲比命神社は伊勢神宮天照大神荒霊と廣田神社の奥の院であるとされている。

六甲比命大善神の境内は元々、江戸時代までは吉祥院多聞寺と廣田神社の共同で管理されていたが明治政府の神仏分離政策によって多聞寺が今現在管理している。
