礼号作戦（れいごうさくせん）は、1944年（昭和19年）12月26日夜中にミンドロ島で実施された日本海軍の作戦[1][2]。
概要

礼号作戦とは[1]、太平洋戦争末期の1944年（昭和19年）12月26日に実行された日本海軍の水上艦艇によるフィリピン、ミンドロ島のアメリカ軍に対する攻撃および作戦の名称である[3]。

フィリピンの戦いに伴うレイテ島地上戦やレイテ島増援作戦（多号作戦）展開中の12月15日以降[4]、連合軍はミンドロ島に上陸してミンドロ島地上戦がはじまり[5]、連合軍は同島に飛行場を建設した[6][7]。ルソン島地上戦に備え持久作戦へ方針転換する第14方面軍（司令官山下奉文陸軍大将）や南西方面艦隊（司令長官大川内傳七中将）に対し[8][9]、連合艦隊（参謀長草鹿龍之介中将、首席参謀神重徳大佐）は陸軍部隊によるミンドロ島逆上陸作戦を主張する[5][10]。これに伴い、第二遊撃部隊（指揮官志摩清英中将）麾下の艦艇が、連合軍が占領するミンドロ島に突入することになった[10]。

12月26日夜、第二水雷戦隊司令官木村昌福少将（旗艦霞）指揮下の水上艦艇8隻（重巡洋艦1隻、軽巡洋艦1隻、駆逐艦6隻）はミンドロ島のサンホセ泊地に夜間突入、輸送船攻撃と対地砲撃を敢行[2][11]。ミンドロ島沖海戦が発生した。連合軍機の夜間空襲により駆逐艦清霜が沈没、他艦艇に若干の被害があった[11][12]。作戦そのものは成功したが、連合国軍の制海権を打破するには至らなかった[注釈 1]。

ミンドロ島上陸

1944年（昭和19年）11月下旬、アメリカ軍を中心とした連合国軍は、レイテ島攻略作戦を順調に進めていた（レイテ島の戦い）[14]。12月13日、大本営海軍部（軍令部）や連合艦隊は「アメリカ軍大部隊のスルー海進入」という報告を受け、連合艦隊（司令長官豊田副武大将、参謀長草鹿龍之介中将、首席参謀神重徳大佐）は在フィリピンの現地部隊に対し、敵上陸に備えるよう打電した（GF機密第132214番電）[15]。南西方面艦隊司令長官の大川内傳七中将は、第二遊撃部隊（指揮官志摩清英第五艦隊司令長官）に対し、戦闘可能艦艇のボルネオ島ブルネイ進出を命じる[14]。
