渋谷駅（しぶやえき）は、東京都渋谷区にある、東日本旅客鉄道（JR東日本）・京王電鉄・東急電鉄・東京地下鉄（東京メトロ）の駅である。
概要

東京3大副都心の一角である渋谷に位置するターミナル駅である。JRや私鉄、地下鉄など複数の路線が集積しており、多くの郊外の通勤通学利用者が都心方面への乗り換えで当駅を利用する。日本鉄道の駅として開業した1885年（明治18年）当時は新宿や池袋と同様に駅周辺は田園地帯が広がる東京市郊外の田舎の駅に過ぎなかったが、東京市電や玉川電鉄（玉電）などの路面電車や私鉄路線が乗り入れるようになり、また東京大都市圏が拡大発展するにつれて郊外路線の沿線人口が大幅に増加し、東京南西部のターミナル駅として成長してきた[1]。その後は1973年の渋谷パルコ（セゾングループ）開業を契機に駅周辺は「若者の街」としての地位を確立し、現在は東京屈指の繁華街へと発展している[2]。戦前から東急が開発してきた歴史を持ち、東急グループにとっての本拠地である[3]。現在、各路線の駅・線路設備及び駅周辺地域は東急グループ主導で大規模な再開発が進行中である[4][5]。
乗り入れ路線

JR東日本、京王電鉄、東急電鉄および東京メトロという4社の路線が乗り入れるターミナル駅である。JR以外の各線はすべて当駅を起点・終点としている。JR・東急電鉄・東京メトロの駅は渋谷スクランブルスクエアと直結しており、また渋谷マークシティ（京王井の頭線駅ビル）、渋谷ヒカリエ、渋谷ストリーム、渋谷フクラスとは連絡通路を介して行き来することができる。

JR東日本の駅に乗り入れている路線は、線路名称上は山手線のみであるが、以下の3系統が停車し、旅客案内ではそれぞれ別路線として扱われている。なお、埼京線と湘南新宿ラインは線路とホームを共有している。

山手線：電車線を走行する環状路線。

埼京線：山手貨物線を走行。大宮駅方面の川越線と大崎駅方面のりんかい線、東海道貨物線経由で羽沢横浜国大駅から相鉄線との相互直通運転も実施。

湘南新宿ライン：山手貨物線を走行する中距離電車。当駅を経由し、大宮駅方面（北行）の宇都宮線・高崎線と横浜駅方面（南行）の東海道線・横須賀線を相互直通運転。
