板橋区（いたばしく）は、東京都の区部北西部の荒川沿いに位置する特別区[1]。
概要

東京都豊島区・練馬区・北区、埼玉県和光市と隣接しており、荒川を挟んで戸田市と接している。

1932年に東京府東京市板橋区として誕生し、1947年に特別区となった。板橋区は非常に大きな面積を有していたが、同年に西武池袋線を中心とした同区西部の地域が練馬区として分区した。

江戸時代には中山道の宿場町である板橋宿が置かれていた。板橋宿は、内藤新宿や品川宿、千住宿とともに江戸四宿の一つであった。
