普仏戦争（ふふつせんそう、独: Deutsch-Franzosischer Krieg、仏: Guerre franco-allemande de 1870）は、フランス第二帝政期の1870年7月19日に起こり、1871年5月10日まで続いたフランス帝国とプロイセン王国の間で行われた戦争である。

プロイセンは北ドイツ連邦のみならず、南ドイツのバーデン大公国・ヴュルテンベルク王国・バイエルン王国と同盟を結び、フランスに圧勝した[1]。この戦争を契機に、すでに旧ドイツ連邦の解体で除外が濃厚となっていた議長国オーストリア帝国を除いたドイツ統一が達成され、フランス第二帝政は崩壊した。

ドイツ諸邦もプロイセン側に立って参戦したため独仏戦争とも呼ぶ他、フランス側では1870年戦争と呼称する。なお、日本の世界史の教科書ではプロイセン＝フランス戦争と呼称する例もある[2]。
概要
背景

ドイツ統一のためのナショナリズム形成を目論見、プロイセン王国は全ドイツ共通の敵を必要としていた。そして、スペインで発生したスペイン1868年革命（スペイン語版）による女王イサベル2世のフランスへ亡命後のスペイン王位継承問題でプロイセンとフランスの対立が高まる中、プロイセン首相（北ドイツ連邦宰相）オットー・フォン・ビスマルクは「エムス電報事件」でフランスとの対立を煽り、また北ドイツ連邦と南部諸邦の一体化を図った上で、フランス側に開戦させた。
