晩産化（ばんさんか）とは、子持ち女性における平均初産年齢(第1子出産年齢)があがること。女性フルタイムワーカー増加という社会の変化があり、主に既婚女性の初出産する年齢が高くなっていたこと、卵子老化といった妊娠適齢期の不認知が背景にある[1][2]。
概要

2009年の東京都による調査によると、30代後半で出産した人数が20代後半で出産した人数を上回っていた。全国の都道府県の多くで見られる出来事であり、約半数の都道府県は30代前半の方が20代後半よりも出生率が高くなっている。これは昔ならば高齢出産とされていたような「30歳以上での出産」が現代では激増したということである。晩産化が起きている要因としては、結婚の時期が遅い（晩婚化）、夫(特に若年男性)の収入が少なくてそれが子育てをするのには厳しい状態であったり、社会問題ともなっている保育所の不足や、女性は以前よりもフルタイムワークをする割合の高まっているなどといった様々な事柄が存在している[3]。
妊娠適齢期の認知普及による歯止め

日本では、晩産化や高齢出産の増加に伴って卵子の老化、妊娠適齢期、加齢由来の不妊症などが、マスコミで取り上げられるようになった[2]。そのため、妊娠の年齢由来のリミットについての認知度向上など、「望ましい第1子の出産年齢」には遅くても30代前半、出来れば20代という価値観普及のお陰で2014年には、それ以前まで右肩上がりを続けていた日本における「晩産化」には歯止めがかかった[1]。
