略歴

磯城津彦玉手看天皇（安寧天皇）の第二皇子。母は鴨王（事代主神の孫）の娘の渟名底仲媛命（『日本書紀』）。兄弟として同母兄に息石耳命（または常津彦某兄）、同母弟に磯城津彦命がいる。父帝が崩御した翌年の2月に即位。即位2年1月、軽之境岡宮（かるのさかいおかのみや）に都を移す。同年2月、息石耳命の娘の天豊津媛命を皇后として観松彦香殖稲尊（後の孝昭天皇）を得た。即位34年、崩御。
