「希望と栄光の国」（きぼうとえいこうのくに、原題: Land of Hope and Glory）は、イギリスの愛国歌のひとつ。エドワード・エルガー作曲アーサー・クリストファー・ベンソン (Arthur Christopher Benson) 作詞、1902年発表。

本楽曲と『戴冠式頌歌』6番のリフレインは[1]、下記のエルガーの『威風堂々第1番』の中間部（トリオ）の主題の旋律につけられている[2]。この旋律に歌詞をつけるということは、エドワード7世の示唆であり、王はエルガーに「この旋律は素晴しい歌曲になるだろう」と思うと告げていた。エルガーは王の戴冠式のため作品を書いてほしいと依頼を受けた時、示唆をもとに『戴冠式頌歌』を書いた。彼は詩人で随筆家のベンソンに歌詞の作成を依頼した[2]。

王の虫垂炎によって、戴冠式が延期された。エルガーは別の曲を作った。それは1902年6月にクララ・バットの歌唱によって初演された。事実、7つのスタンザ（詩節）の冒頭は『戴冠式頌歌』の6番「終結部」を転用したものである。第2スタンザの4節は『戴冠式頌歌』と共通である。このスタンザは今日人気のある部分である。

"Wider still and wider" （広大に、いっそう広大に）ケープタウンからカイロへ鉄道用の電線を敷設するローズ。同時代の諷刺画

歌詞の作成はセシル・ローズの遺志（1902年没）と同時であった。そこには、「世界にイギリスの支配を拡大させる」という特別な目的のために莫大な遺産を寄贈するとあり、ローズがイギリス人によるイギリスの支配下、植民地化におきたいを欲していた領土の長大かつ詳細なリストが加えられていた。
