山梨県（やまなしけん）は、日本の中部地方に位置する県。県庁所在地は甲府市。
首都圏整備法における首都圏の一角を成す。令制国の甲斐国に相当する。 南に富士山、西に赤石山脈（南アルプス）、北に八ヶ岳、東に奥秩父山地など、標高2,000 m?3,000mを超す山々に囲まれる。島国の日本において、海に全く面しない数少ない内陸県である[注釈 1]。山梨県の面積は全国32位であるが、その8割を山岳地が占めるため可住地面積は全国45位である。 周辺地域とは、往来が比較的容易で交通路も整備されている東京都（島嶼部を除く）、神奈川県津久井地区、長野県中・南信地方、静岡県大井川以東の三方との交流が、古くから盛んである。又、埼玉県秩父地方との境は奥秩父山塊に隔てられているが、1998年（平成10年）の国道140号雁坂トンネル開通により、山岳部の踏破だけでなく自動車やバスでの直接往来が可能となった。
