山本 コウタロー（やまもと コウタロー、本名：山本 厚太郎（やまもと こうたろう）、1948年〈昭和23年〉9月7日[1] - 2022年〈令和4年〉7月4日）は、日本のシンガーソングライター、タレント、政治活動家、環境学者。白?大学名誉教授。オフィスプロフィット所属。芸名は山本 コウタロー（コータローではない）だが、作曲や大学で教鞭を執るときは本名で行っていた。
略歴

東京都千代田区四番町に生まれる[2]。千代田区立麹町中学校、東京都立日比谷高等学校卒業。一浪し、上智大学経済学部に入学。上智大学在学中に東京大学受験を志すも東大紛争により、一橋大学社会学部に転学。

大学在学中からフォーク・グループソルティー・シュガーのメンバーとして活動[2]。日本におけるコミックソングの代表作の一つともいえる「走れコウタロー」を1970年にリリース[2]。その面白さから第12回日本レコード大賞新人賞を受賞するヒットソングとなった[2]。1971年、ソルティー・シュガー解散後、高田渡、シバらとともに武蔵野タンポポ団のメンバーとして、第3回全日本フォークジャンボリーに参加。歴史の転換点として伝説化しているサブステージでの吉田拓郎の「人間なんて」の長時間演奏ではステージに上がり、バックコーラスを務めた。この頃からなぎらけんいち（現：なぎら健壱）らと親交を持つ。1972年、一橋大学社会学部卒業。
