大田市（おおだし）は、島根県のほぼ中央部にある市。石見地域の東部に位置する。浜田市、益田市とともに「石見三田」（いわみさんだ）とも呼ばれている[1]。
大田市の地形は地理的・歴史的には出雲地域と石見地域の中継点としての性質を有しており、石見地域の中では特に出雲地域との繋がりが強い。
