変ホ短調（へんほたんちょう）は、西洋音楽における調のひとつで、変ホ (E♭) 音を主音とする短調である。調号はフラット6箇所 (B, E, A, D, G, C) である。

和音は和声的短音階で考えたもの。
VIIの和音 (Dm-5) はV7 (B♭7) の、VII7の和音 (Dm7-5) はV9 (B♭7(♭9)) の根音を省略した形とみなされることがある。
その他のコードネームも実際の楽譜では異名同音的に変えられることがある。
特徴

変ホ短調と嬰ニ短調は12平均律においては異名同音であり、かつ調号の使用も6箇所であり、五度圏ではイ短調の対蹠に位置する。

シャルパンティエはこの調を「恐ろしい」と述べている。

19世紀以降では、ニ短調で始まって半音ずつ高く転調する曲の途中で使われる場合が多い。また、ニ短調で始まって末尾で半音高く転調する所で使われる場合も多い。ピアノでは弾きやすい調であるといわれている。ポピュラー音楽にも比較的多く使われる[要出典]。ギターで演奏する場合は「全弦半音下げ」（6本全ての弦を通常より半音低く調律する）の場合もある。
