言語学的再構（英: Linguistic reconstruction）は再建とも言い、文献に残っていない時代の言語や祖語を理論的に推定し、再構築（復元）することを指す。再構形にはアステリスク ?*? を付ける。

再構はあくまで推定に過ぎない。例えばロマンス語の祖語はラテン語であるが、現代のロマンス語から祖語（俗ラテン語）を再建しても、実際のラテン語のごく一部しか明らかにできない。
再構の方法

子孫言語の間の比較によって行われる再構を比較再構（英語: Comparative reconstruction）、あるいは外的再構（英: External reconstruction）と言う[1]。

同一言語内の異形態を比較・分析して行われる再構を内的再構（英語: Internal reconstruction）という[2]。
