ロタール2世（Lothar II, 835年 - 869年8月8日）は、中部フランク国王ロタール1世の次男であり、中部フランク王国から分裂したロタリンギア王国の国王（在位：855年 - 869年）である。
生涯

855年、父ロタール1世は死に際し、自らの領地と皇帝位を三人の息子に分割することを決めた。次男であったロタールはアーヘンを含むフリースラントから北部ブルグント（ジュラ山脈以北）に至るロタリンギアの地を与えられることとなった。863年に弟シャルルが相続人なく死去したため、ロタール2世と兄皇帝ロドヴィコ2世（ルートヴィヒ2世）はシャルルの領地を分割することとし、ロタール2世はリヨン、ヴィエンヌ、グルノーブル司教管区を得た[1][2]。

855年にボゾン家のアルル伯ボソ3世の娘テウトベルガと結婚した。しかし正妻のテウトベルガとの間に子供を得られなかったので、彼女に近親者との不義密通を告白させて、これと離縁し、愛妾のワルトラーダと結婚しようと企てたが、ローマ教皇ニコラウス1世らの反対に遭い果たせなかった。867年にニコラウス1世が死去、兄ロドヴィコ2世夫妻の仲介で後任のハドリアヌス2世との会見を果たし、離婚問題が再審議されることとなったが、それがなされる前の869年8月、庶子のみを残してピアツェンツァで死去した[3]。ロタールの死はメルセン条約のきっかけとなった。

なお、ロタリンギア - フランス語でいうロレーヌ（Lorraine）、ドイツ語でいうロートリンゲン（Lothringen） - という地名は、ラテン語の「Lotharii Regnum」（ロタールの王国）から来ており、彼の名前に由来している。
