経歴

アメリカ生まれだが、父親の事業の失敗で1968年に家族でオーストラリアに移住した。11人兄弟で育つ。ジェフリー・ラッシュとは大学時代のルームメイトだという。ジュディ・デイヴィスらと共にオーストラリア国立演劇学院で学び、1979年にアクション映画『マッドマックス』の主役で脚光を浴びスターの座をつかんだ。1985年

オーストラリア映画で活躍した後、1982年にアメリカ映画初出演。『リーサル・ウェポン』シリーズなどで人気を確たるものにした。
