マイケル・ガッセン "マイク" スチュアート (Michael Gassen "Mike" Stewart、1945年 4月19日 - 2002年11月13日) は、 We Fiveのメンバー。ギタリストとして活躍し、グラミー賞にもノミネートされた経験がある。音楽プロデューサーとしては、彼はビリー・ジョエルの「ピアノ・マン」や、トム・ジョーンズやケニー・ランキンなどのアーティストをプロデュースした事で知られる。
複雑なハーモニーを用いた事で知られる We Five は、" You Were on My Mind " をリリースし、 Cashboxで 1 位、 Billboardのヒット リストで 2 位になった (この曲は昔ながらのラジオ プレイリストで今でも人気がある)。最優秀新人グラミー賞にノミネート。翌年、彼らは「Let's Get Together」でトップ 40 ヒットを記録した。 スチュワートは、キングストン・トリオのかつてのメンバーであり、後にシンガーソングライターとして成功したジョン・スチュワート
人物
1990年代初頭には一度音楽業界を離れ、コンピュータープログラマーとして活動した。スチュアートは、ミュージシャンやアレンジャーが使用するために、Digidesigns と Adobe のシステムを設計した。彼の技術的な作品には、PC 用の Session8 デジタル オーディオ ワークステーション、Impulse Drum Trigger、 George Dalyと共同設計した Feel Factory、コンピュータ化された音楽デバイスに人間のテンポに従うよう指示する Human Clock などがある。
一度音楽業界を離れたスチュアートだが、後に息子・ジェイミーのバンド The Indestructible Beat of Palo Alto ( IBOPA ) でベースを演奏した。 [1]
スチュワートは 2002年11 月 13 日に亡くなったと伝えられているが、長い期間病気を患い、闘病していたという。 [2]しかし、ジェイミーは父の死が自殺であることを認めている。 [3]
