「ホワットエヴァー」（Whatever）は、イギリスのロックバンド、オアシスの楽曲である。1994年12月18日にシングルとして発売された。オリジナル・アルバムには収録されず、2010年に発売されたベスト・アルバム『タイム・フライズ…1994-2009』でアルバム初収録となった。作詞作曲はノエル・ギャラガーによるものだが、後の訴訟により共同作曲者としてニール・イネスの名がクレジットされている。
背景とリリース

「ホワットエヴァー」のレコーディングは、モンマスシャーにあるロックフィールド・スタジオで行われ、プロデュースはオーウェン・モリス（英語版）、ノエル、デイビット・バチェラーの3人が手がけた[3]。本作のストリングスは、ロンドン・フィルハーモニー管弦楽団による演奏で、ニック・イングマン（英語版）とノエルが編曲を手がけた[4]。

シングル『ホワットエヴァー』は、1994年に発売されたデビュー・アルバム『オアシス』と、2作目のアルバム『モーニング・グローリー』の間にクリスマス・シングル[5]として発売され[4]。全英シングルチャートで最高位3位を獲得し[6]、オアシスにとって初めてトップ5入りしたシングルとなった[4]。オリジナル・アルバムには収録されず、2010年に発売されたベスト・アルバム『タイム・フライズ…1994-2009』でアルバム初収録となった。シングルは、2016年9月6日時点で54万枚の売上を記録している[7]。
訴訟

「ホワットエヴァー」の出だしとメロディが、1973年にニール・イネスが作曲した「How Sweet To Be An Idiot」のメロディに類似していることを理由に、イネスが所属するレコード会社がオアシスを提訴[4][8]。訴訟を経て、オアシスはイネス側と和解し、本作の作曲者の1人としてイネスを連ねることとなった[4][9][8]。なお、イネスは1996年に発売されたラトルズの『アーキオロジー』に収録の「シャングリラ」の冒頭で本作のフレーズを引用している[4]。
メディアなどでの使用

「ホワットエヴァー」は、2012年にコカ・コーラの創業125周年記念キャンペーンで使用された[10]ほか、イギリスの銀行HalifaxのCM[11]で使用された。
