「プリーズ・ミスター・ポストマン」（Please Mr. Postman） は、マーヴェレッツの楽曲である。大元の作詞作曲者はウィリアム・ギャレットで、ジョージア・ドビンズ、フレディ・ゴーマン、ブライアン・ホーランド、ロバート・ベイトマンによって手を加えられた。1961年8月21日にモータウンよりデビュー・シングルとして発売され[2]、Billboard Hot 100では第1位を獲得し、R&Bチャートでも第1位を獲得した[3]。本作はBillboard Hot 100で第1位を獲得した初のモータウンのシングル作品となった。
後にビートルズやカーペンターズによってカバーされ、カーペンターズによるカバー・バージョンも1975年初頭のBillboard Hot 100で第1位を獲得した。目次 1961年春、当時ザ・マーベルズ名義であったマーヴェレッツは、タムラ・レコードによるオーディションに臨んだ。「プリーズ・ミスター・ポストマン」は、マーヴェレッツのメンバーの友人であるウィリアム・ギャレットが書いたものを、オーディション後に脱退したジョージア・ドビンズが手を加えたものだった[4]。モータウンの創設者であるベリー・ゴーディによってグループ名が「マーヴェレッツ」に改名され、当時のモータウンで作曲チームとして知られていたフレディ・ゴーマン、ブライアン・ホーランド、ロバート・ベイトマンの3名によって手直しされた[4][注釈 2]。
