Qoq segments in the cranium of insects; while Straus Durckhcimconsiders it as formed by the consolidation of no less thansix segments of the vermiform larva. According to thistheory, the same elements which in the thoracic segmentsare developed into feet, are here employed to form partshaving other destinations.
