ビッグレッドマシン(The Big Red Machine)とは、1970年代、メジャーリーグにおいて圧倒的強さ、人気を誇ったシンシナティ・レッズの愛称。

1970年から1978年にかけて、名将スパーキー・アンダーソンのもと、史上最高の捕手と言われるジョニー・ベンチ、歴代メジャー屈指の二塁手であるジョー・モーガン、通算379本塁打のトニー・ペレスといった後に殿堂入りする選手、さらに史上最多の通算4256安打のピート・ローズ、本塁打王2回・打点王3回のジョージ・フォスター、ケン・グリフィー・ジュニアの父ケン・グリフィー・シニアといったスター選手を揃え、地区優勝6回、リーグ優勝4回、ワールドチャンピオンに2度輝いた。

当時の日本においてもその人気は絶大であり、1978年の日米野球で来日した際には、ベンチが9本塁打を記録するなど、14勝2敗1分けという圧倒的な成績でその強さを証明したが、帰国直後にアンダーソンは監督を解任され、ローズもFA権を取得してフィラデルフィア・フィリーズに移籍した。翌、1979年には、地区優勝を果たすも、1982年にはジョニー・ベンチを除き、その多くはチームを去り、ビッグレッドマシンは「解体」となった。

ピート・ローズは得点・二塁打が3年連続リーグ最多、さらにリーグ最多安打も過去5年経験しており、通算安打歴代1位など数々のメジャー記録を打ち立てた。

ジョー・モーガンは出塁率・長打率・OPSがリーグ最高。背番号「8」は後にレッズの永久欠番となる。

ジョージ・フォスターはこの年から3年連続の打点王、さらにオールスターMVPを受賞した。

トニー・ペレスは後に米国野球殿堂入り。同年、ペレスのつけていた背番号「24」がレッズの永久欠番になった。

ジョニー・ベンチはこの年ワールドシリーズMVPとベーブ・ルース賞を受賞。背番号「5」はレッズの永久欠番となり、1989年には野球殿堂入りを果たす。

デーブ・コンセプシオンの現役時代の背番号「13」が永久欠番になる。
