ヒホン国際映画祭（ヒホンこくさいえいがさい、スペイン語: El Festival Internacional de Cine de Gijon）は、1963年に設立された映画祭である。それは地方自治体の主導で誕生し、主にヒホン市評議会と当時のカハ・デ・アオロ・デ・アストゥリアス（現在のカハストゥール（英語版））の後援によるものだった。どちらの機関も依然としてその映画祭の中心的な主催者であり、資金面ではアストゥリアス州の文化評議会、スペイン文化省、MEDIAプログラムを通した欧州委員会が支援している。
ホセ・ルイス・シエンフェゴス事務局長は、ファン・ホセ・プランスの死後1995年に任命された。その時、映画祭は、市内の大部分の観光と文化の活動を引き受けているSMTFG（La Sociedad Mixta de Turismo y Festejos de Gijon, S.A.）に依拠していた。テアトロ・ミュニシパル・ホベリャノスの再開と市内の文化・音楽・エンターテインメント活動の着実な増加によりSMTFGは2つに分けられることになり、1996年5月にEMAMテアトロ・ミュニシパル・ホベリャノス・デ・ヒホン（La Entidad Mercantil Artistico-Musical Teatro Municipal Jovellanos de Gijon, S.A.）が設立された。この団体はテアトロ・ミュニシパル・ホベリャノスと市の文化と市民の催事を運営し、ヒホン国際映画祭の組織化に役割を果たしている。
過去数年を通して、最も名声のある独立映画製作の専門家たちの中で、回想とオマージュの対象主体としてその映画祭への参加者がいた。それは、アッバス・キアロスタミ、アキ・カウリスマキ、トッド・ヘインズ、ペドロ・コスタ、ポール・シュレイダー、ジョアン・セーザル・モンテイロ、鈴木清順、ジェム・コーエン（英語版）、ケネス・アンガー、ウルリッヒ・ザイドル、ハル・ハートリー、ルーカス・ムーディソン、蔡明亮、クレール・ドニ、トッド・ソロンズなどである。国内と国際ゲストの中で同様に言及すべきは、国際審査員のメンバーとしてまた映画祭の様々な部門で映画の上映をしている、ジョン・ケイル、マリア・シュナイダー、モンテ・ヘルマン、パプリカ・スティーン（英語版）、フリオ・メデム、フェレ・マルティネス、エルビラ・ミンゲス、ホルヘ・ペルゴリア（英語版）、マリア・エステヴェ、トリスタン・ウジョア（英語版）、ダニエル・ガスマン（英語版）、ジャン・スヴィトコヴィッチ（英語版）である。
ヒホン国際映画祭はまた一連の催事があり、コース、パネルディスカッション、Q&A 、毎日のコンサートなどを、ライブの音楽パーティー同様に行う。映画祭は競争の部門で様々な賞を授賞し、アストゥリアスの映画制作産業（Asturian cinema）を促進する目的で他の主催映画祭と協力している。それらの賞は国際的審査員（異なる国々からの5人以上の専門家で構成）、若い審査員（17歳から26歳の若者50人）、2005年からは加えてFIPRESCIの審査員により決定されている。
