バージニア大学（バージニアだいがく、英語: University of Virginia、通称UVA）は、アメリカ合衆国バージニア州シャーロッツビルに本部を置くアメリカ合衆国の州立大学である。1819年に設置された。米国屈指の名門大学であり、パブリック・アイビーに称される。経済学・法学系では、アメリカの州立大学のトップクラスであり、カリフォルニア大学バークレー校（UC Berkeley）、カリフォルニア大学ロサンゼルス校（UCLA）、ミシガン大学（UM）と共に名門校として知られている。法科大学院のバージニア大学ロースクール（Virginia Law）は全米TOP10前後で国際的に名高い。経営大学院のダーデン・スクール・オブ・ビジネス（Darden School of Business）も全米TOP15前後で評価は高い。フランク・バッテン・リーダーシップ公共政策大学院は全米TOP30前後となっている。アメリカ合衆国建国の父で、「独立宣言」起草者および第3代アメリカ合衆国大統領を務めたトーマス・ジェファーソンが創立した長い歴史と伝統のある世界有数のエリート名門大学の一つである。アメリカ大統領をはじめ、多くの政治家、法律家、ノーベル賞受賞者を輩出している。

トーマス・ジェファーソンは、自ら大学の教科課程や建築の原型を創案し、生前自分の墓に「バージニア大学の父」という言葉を自分の3つの功績のひとつとして刻むことを頼むほど、大学を誇りにしていた。ジェファーソンの伝統を受け継ぐバージニア大学は、世界でも、極めて評価が高い、政治、経済、法学の分野を代表に、幅広い分野の学問を提供し、その殆どが、大変に高い評価を受けている。『時代を牽引するリーダーを養成する』という、トーマス・ジェファーソンの建学の精神は、今も引き継がれており、ウィルソン米国大統領、ケネディ兄弟をはじめ、各界へ多くの著名人を輩出してきた。

また、バージニア大学の合格難度は、至極最高レベルで、世界各国から選び抜かれた最も優秀な学生たちが、学問やスポーツに打ち込むため、多くの著名な政治家や法律家だけでなく、プロスポーツ選手も輩出している。バスケットボール、ベースボール、テニス、ラクロス、サッカーにおいては、全米チャンピオンに輝く超強豪校である。

バージニア大学のキャンパスは、歴代、全米で最も美しいキャンパス（全米ランキング１位[8]）と称される程、美しいことで有名である。キャンパスの荘厳な美しさの中には、伝統を重んじる格式の高さ、気品の高さと、重厚さに溢れた校風が息づき、受け継がれている。1987年にはモンティチェロとあわせて『シャーロッツビルのモンティチェロとバージニア大学』として世界遺産に登録された。
