1930年にゲアン省とハティン省でゲティン・ソヴィエト（ベトナム語: Xo Vi?t Ngh? T?nh、Nghe-Tinh soviet）の蜂起が起こった。

2014年5月14日に発生した、中国による石油掘削活動が引き金となったベトナム反中デモでは、ハティン省に進出した工場も襲撃対象となり、多くの死傷者を出すこととなった[1]。
地理

西はラオス、東はバクボ湾に接する。ラオスとの国境地帯は豊かな自然の残る山岳地帯であり、ベトナム戦争および東西冷戦終了後にサオラを始めとする新種の動植物が多数発見されている。

ラオスとの国境地帯にはカウチェオ国際貿易経済区が置かれている。
